'Visual Cultures' Art Student Residency MaMA x WdKA Rotterdam, NL 2024

For the MaMA × WdKA collaboration, I designed and facilitated a multi-week residency program that supported art students in exploring themes of process, ruins, professional identity, and collective authorship within a contemporary cultural institution. The residency combined experimental art-making, critical reflection, and professional development through a series of workshops, embodied exercises, table sessions with museum staff, and iterative installation practices inside MaMA’s showroom.

My role included developing the conceptual framework, crafting a pedagogical structure grounded in accessibility, radical play, and right-brain creative inquiry, and guiding students through a process of learning in public. I facilitated collective drawing methods, psychosomatic exercises, and feedback digestion rituals, helping students build confidence in presenting unfinished work and embracing imperfection as part of their artistic identity.

The program culminated in a participatory open-discourse event where students engaged with curators, technical producers, educators, and program makers at thematic tables. I coordinated this full experience—from communication with staff to structuring the conversations—and led the day’s introduction and closing reflection.

This residency emphasized experimentation, care, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, giving students a space to test, fail, rebuild, and articulate their artistic intentions within a real institutional context.
