”The World is at your feet”
This is another piece that was inspired by a vivid memory of my dreams. I had the desire to capture the experience I had in these recurring dreams, but I held myself back because I felt like it would not be able to match how I perceived it. The scene from my dream requires different angles to understand what is being told. Despite not being able to fully capture my dream, I feel like the result comes surprisingly close.
It felt like I was frozen in a moment of action. I could be about to take the leap... Ahead of me lied a luminous utopia, stretching over the entire horizon. It was too bright for me to make out its distinct features. It felt so incredibly close to me and it was everything I longed for: it was a sense of hope. However, right below my feet, I could see an eerie vortex created by those who awaited me in the deepest darkness of the ocean…
This work speaks to the feeling of inner longings that are seemingly out of reach, will be dangerous or will even be impossible to pursue. It speaks to not being able to know what’s ahead of you and how you will allow yourself to react to that.
I still don’t know what happens in the next moment. Am I still there? Perhaps I’ve become able to surrender to the moment and even unclench that fist…
