The Great Devourer

I am still working on this piece inspired by the myth of the titan Cronos who supposedly consumed all of his children, save Zeus. This fascinating story was a source of inspiration for this painting. I wanted to implement attributes that signified each of the children he devoured.

I’ve always found mythology incredibly interesting and was intrigued by the idea of portraying a myth without depicting any ‘humans‘. It felt more challenging to create this work as less ‘on the nose‘ than the depiction of myths in a classical sense.

For this work I used wax crayons and acrylics.
